Mechanic Slave 25 years dedicated to Berlin and World Techno.

The DJ MUSIC MAG team had the pleasure of a brief chat with the Berlin Techno artist, who will be 39 years old on December 26th, and we will have a Techno-partner. With his 25 years of experience in music, especially the sounds of Underground Techno and its segments.

And he graced us with an interview and several questions about Techno Music in his life as a DJ, outside of family, work in his company and more...

1. Why "Mechanic Slave"?

The name Mechanic Slave stems from my early passion for electronic music.

I was drawn to the raw, aggressive energy of mechanical and industrial sounds, which deeply influenced my artistic identity and inspired the

creation of this distinctive stage name.

2. How long have you been on your musical journey and in Techno?

I began my musical journey in 2000 as a dedicated listener. In 2004, I transitioned into music production,

and by 2007, I expanded my craft to DJing, marking the start of my full involvement in the Techno scene.

3. What led you to the world of electronic music, and what are your influences?

My entry into electronic music happened during my teenage years when I first encountered the sounds

of Thunderdome, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, and Fatboy Slim. As I dove deeper into the scene,

I was drawn to the DJ sets of icons like Umek, Adam Beyer, DJ Rush, Carl Cox, Funk D’Void, Jeff Mills, and Dave Clarke.

Their dynamic mixes and boundary-pushing styles—especially those of Mills and Clarke—had a profound impact on my own musical evolution.

4. You’re also a music producer. How long have you been producing, and how many original albums and remixes have you released?

Yes, I’ve been producing music since 2004 and am the founder of Red Section Records.

While I’ve released over 100 tracks under various aliases, my most recognized work is as Mechanic Slave.

Each release reflects a unique sound and style, inspired by the evolving phases of my creative journey.

My productions and remixes have garnered support from renowned artists like

Funk D'Void, Richie Hawtin, Laidback Luke, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Samuel L. Session, Dr. Motte, Pet Duo, Arjun Vagale,

and many others—key figures who initially inspired me to become part of the electronic music scene.

5. What are the most relevant events in your journey in the world of Techno music?

It’s hard to pinpoint a single highlight because every event, big or small, has left a lasting impression with its unique energy and unforgettable memories.

So far, I’ve had the privilege of performing across nearly the entire Balkan region and in Germany,

with each experience adding a new layer to my journey and passion for Techno.

6. Vinyl or Digital?

Vinyl, always!

7. What are your activities outside of music?

Outside of music, I’m a dedicated family man and a proud father of two,

balancing my passion for techno with the joys and responsibilities of family life.

8. What is your vision of the scene yesterday and today?

Looking back at its origins in Detroit, through the 90s and early 2000s, to today’s global landscape, techno has evolved from raw street sounds into a complex, multifaceted cultural movement. The rise of social media and digital DJing has transformed the scene, making it more accessible while driving innovation and creativity.

From underground raves to thriving clubs, techno’s journey has been powered by its relentless rhythm and spirit. Looking ahead, I anticipate new, innovative approaches with fresh underground beats that will resonate with and inspire the next generation.
