Silvio Santos Dies at 93 in São Paulo



Silvio Santos, one of the greatest icons of Brazilian television, passed away at 93 this Saturday (17) in São Paulo.




The host was hospitalized at the Albert Einstein Hospital after contracting H1N1 and died due to bronchopneumonia. Known for hosting the Silvio Santos Show since 1963 and founding SBT in 1981, Silvio was a central figure in the history of communication in Brazil. Born as Senor Abravanel in 1930 in Rio de Janeiro, Silvio leaves an immeasurable legacy for Brazilian television.
